New Pontoons for Mayflower Marina
Thursday 14th January 2010
Plymouth's Mayflower Marina has invested more than £130,000 in its berthing facilities, replacing a whole pier including fitting new pontoons, piles and electrical outlets.
The new pier has also been moved slightly to the east, thus allowing the fairways to be widened elsewhere in the marina. This increased space will allow berth holders to manoeuvre and pass other boats with greater ease.
This work is part of a rolling programme of pontoon renewals and further investment planned for 2010. These latest installations follow Mayflower's substantial investment into its facilities, totalling £2.5m. This included a new boat hoist, office building, extended car park and luxury bathroom facilities.
The new pontoons, piles and electrics were replaced by Walcon Marine Ltd – one of the most successful pontoon manufacturers in Europe.
Charles Bush, managing director of Mayflower Marina, commented: "We have an exciting year ahead at Mayflower Marina. We have already invested a substantial amount into our facilities and have received fantastic feedback from our berth holders and visitors. We really want to keep this momentum going, ensuring we are one of the best marinas in the UK - for location, service and facilities."
"Our marina provides the perfect base for boating and, having completed these improvement works in a well executed manner just prior to Christmas, customer disruption was kept to a minimum."
James Walters, managing director of Walcon Marine Ltd, added: "We were pleased to work with Mayflower Marina on this latest phase of their pontoon renewal programme. It is always refreshing to work with a team that puts service and customer satisfaction before anything else. The location is ideal and we certainly made the most of our time in the beautiful South West of England."
